Blue Jays’ Erik Swanson Injury Update Revealed! What John Schneider Just Said Will Shock Fans!

The Blue Jays’ pitching staff has been hit hard by injuries early in 2025, with Max Scherzer being the latest casualty due to a thumb injury that’s currently considered day-to-day. In another update, manager John Schneider provided news on reliever Erik Swanson, who arrived late to Spring Training after sustaining an off-season injury and then re-injured himself during camp. Fortunately, MRI results revealed no structural damage. Schneider told Hazel Mae that Swanson is expected to begin throwing again on Wednesday or Thursday, with a gradual ramp-up plan in place.

Schneider described Swanson’s recovery process as a “normal-ish, maybe a little bit of an accelerated ramp-up, similar to what you do at the start of Spring Training.” While this is positive news for the Blue Jays’ bullpen, there’s still a strong possibility Swanson could miss the start of the regular season.

If Swanson isn’t ready for Opening Day, the Blue Jays have taken steps to bolster their bullpen depth. They recently added Richard Lovelady to their 40-man roster, putting him in contention for a spot on the 26-man roster, and also signed Justin Bruihl a few days ago.

Despite the current challenges, the Blue Jays can take some solace in the fact that none of the injuries appear to be severe. With time, the bullpen should be back to full strength in a matter of weeks.
