BREAKING; 3 Burning Questions the Vikings Must Answer Before the NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is fast approaching, now just under two and a half weeks away. Despite holding only four picks, this draft is a pivotal moment for both the Minnesota Vikings and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. While the team has made the playoffs twice under his watch, his draft history remains questionable. With that in mind, several major questions loom over Minnesota as they prepare for this year’s draft. Who’s under the most pressure? And when will the Vikings even make their first selection? Here are three key questions they face:

1. Will the Vikings Trade Down?

This is the biggest storyline to watch. After trading up in 2024 to land J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner, Minnesota is now left with just two picks in the top 100. Although they filled several holes in free agency, they still need depth—especially behind veterans with injury histories. A trade down from pick 24 (or out of the first round altogether) could allow a QB-hungry team to jump up for someone like Jackson Dart or Shedeur Sanders while giving the Vikings more draft capital.

2. Will They Target a Running Back in a Deep Class?

With the addition of Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones, the Vikings have a solid backfield duo—on paper. But Jones is 30 and has struggled with injuries, despite playing most of the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the coaching staff seems to have cooled on Ty Chandler. This year’s running back class is deep, and it could be wise to grab a younger back who can sit behind Jones in 2025 and potentially step into a larger role in 2026.

3. Will Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s Contract Situation Influence His Draft Strategy?

Adofo-Mensah’s future is uncertain, as he has yet to sign an extension. While he claims the contract isn’t weighing on him, there’s likely some pressure to deliver a successful draft. Could that pressure alter his approach? Might he stay at pick 24 to secure a “safe” pick, or take a risk on trading down to build long-term depth? Historically, Kwesi has been methodical and forward-thinking, but when stakes are high, even the calmest decision-makers can feel the heat. A strong draft could solidify his future in Minnesota—while a weak one might leave him on the hot seat.
