LUBBOCK – Christian Anderson has announced that he will return to Texas Tech for his sophomore season.
A member of the All-Big 12 Freshman Team, Anderson averaged 10.6 points per game and tied for the team lead with 71 made 3-pointers during his freshman year. He played a key role in the Red Raiders’ (28-9, 15-5 Big 12) third Elite 8 appearance, scoring a career-high 22 points in the Sweet 16 win over Arkansas. This marked his fourth game of the season with 20+ points, having also scored 21 against Arizona State and West Virginia and 20 in a non-conference victory over Lamar.
Anderson led Texas Tech with 46 3-pointers in Big 12 play, tying Davide Moretti for the fourth most in program history for a season. He set career highs with five 3-pointers and six assists at Kansas, contributing 15 points (5-of-10 from beyond the arc) to the win at Allen Fieldhouse. As a true freshman, Anderson played in 35 games, starting seven, including the final five of the season. He finished with 18 games scoring in double figures, including 19 points against Arizona in the Big 12 Championship semifinals and 22 points in the comeback victory over Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament.
In Big 12 play, Anderson averaged 11.4 points per game and led the team with 46 made 3-pointers on a 42.2% shooting rate from beyond the arc.
