**AUSTIN (KXAN)** – Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian is prioritizing team-building through recruiting and player development, viewing the transfer portal as a tool to address specific gaps rather than a primary source of talent.
With Quinn Ewers departing for the NFL, the Longhorns aren’t scrambling for a quarterback replacement. Arch Manning, who backed up Ewers in 2024 and started two games as a freshman, is poised to take over as the starter in his third season. Sarkisian praised Manning’s work ethic and humility, noting, “From the day he arrived, there’s been a real sense of humility about him. If you didn’t know his last name or face, you’d just see a hardworking teammate who’s fully committed to improving.”
As Texas prepares for the 2025 season, the offense faces significant changes, losing eight starters. However, the return of running back CJ Baxter, who missed last season with a knee injury, provides a boost.
