BREAKING; Braves Bring Back Former Star Closer on Minor League Deal – Will This Move Reignite Their Bullpen?

Decorated veteran Craig Kimbrel has agreed to a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves, which includes a $2 million salary if he makes it to the major leagues, a source confirmed to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Kimbrel is expected to spend a few weeks preparing and, if everything goes as planned, will join the Braves’ major league bullpen, the source added. The agreement was first reported by The Athletic.

Kimbrel, who will turn 37 in May, began his illustrious 15-year MLB career with the Braves, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2011. During his time with Atlanta, he was selected to the All-Star team for four consecutive seasons, solidifying his reputation as one of the game’s elite closers.

Last season, Kimbrel played for the Baltimore Orioles but faced challenges, posting a 5.33 ERA and blowing six saves. His struggles led to him being designated for assignment in September. Despite this setback, Kimbrel boasts an impressive career ERA of 2.59 and has recorded 440 saves, making him one of the most accomplished relievers in MLB history.

This return to Atlanta marks a homecoming for Kimbrel, who will look to rediscover his form and contribute to the Braves’ bullpen as they aim for another successful season. Fans and the organization alike will be hopeful that the veteran can recapture the dominance that once made him a cornerstone of their pitching staff.
