The Atlanta Braves have started to turn their season around after a rough beginning, working their way back into the playoff conversation. Despite dealing with a wave of injuries and up-and-down performances, they’ve clawed their way to a 19–20 record and are just one win from returning to .500. Remarkably, they’ve done most of this without their ace, Spencer Strider.
Strider missed the early part of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and made just one appearance—an April 16 start against the Blue Jays—before injuring his hamstring and landing on the 15-day injured list. Although he’s now eligible to be activated, the Braves are still deciding whether to bring him directly back to the majors or let him ease back with a minor league rehab assignment.
Strider, for his part, believes he’s ready to jump back into action and make an immediate impact for a team that could use a boost in the rotation.
