Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has made it clear that the organization’s goal is to keep Marchand in Boston for the remainder of his career. “That’s always been my ultimate goal,” Sweeney stated, according to NHL insider Joe McDonald of *The Hockey News*. “We’ve been in negotiations with Brad and communicating with him throughout the year. Now that the Four Nations tournament is over, we’ll sit down with Brad and his representatives to map out a clearer path.”

Sweeney acknowledged the team’s cautious approach heading into the trade deadline, saying, *“I think we’ll take a much more cautious approach as we approach the deadline.”*
For his part, Marchand has expressed his desire to remain with the Bruins. In an interview on the *What Chaos!* podcast, he said, *“My goal is to play here forever. I love it here, and my family obviously loves it here. It’s all I know. What I love most is the expectations to be good every year, both internally from management and ownership and from the team itself. That’s what you want to be part of.”*
