It seems highly probable that the New York Giants will be in the market for a new quarterback after the 2024 season. The direction they take will depend on their draft position, but if they turn to free agency, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold could be a potential target.
Darnold, who has had a strong season with the Vikings, is now being considered as an option for the Giants, according to Kristopher Knox of the Bleacher Report. However, Knox notes that Darnold might not be a perfect fit with head coach Brian Daboll and the current system in New York.
Still, the Giants are expected to explore all available options once they decide to move on from Daniel Jones.
With the Giants likely set to part ways with Jones this offseason—saving $19.4 million in cap space for 2025 despite incurring a $22.2 million cap hit—Darnold could become one of the top free agent quarterbacks.
While his future with the Vikings is uncertain due to their commitment to first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, Darnold’s impressive rebound season makes him a prime candidate for a fresh start in New York.
As the offseason nears, this may not be the last time Darnold’s name comes up in connection with the Giants’ quarterback search.
