Minnesota Vikings Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss and ESPN, where he currently works, shared exciting news just one day before Super Bowl 2025. On Saturday, February 8, Adam Schefter announced via X that Moss would be returning to ESPN’s NFL Countdown live from New Orleans at 10 a.m. ET.
Moss, who had been diagnosed with cancer in late 2024, publicly revealed his condition in December. The cancer was found in his bile duct, near his liver and pancreas. Moss underwent surgery on Thanksgiving Day to have a stent placed in his liver, and in early December, he underwent a six-hour operation to remove the cancer.
Moss, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, had a stellar 14-year NFL career, recording 982 receptions, 15,292 receiving yards, and 156 touchdown receptions. He also earned six Pro Bowl selections and four First-Team All-Pro honors. Moss, now 48, made it clear he was determined to return to his role at ESPN as soon as his health allowed.

After appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown with sunglasses, Moss revealed that he was battling a health issue, explaining that he was undergoing treatment with the support of his doctors but was determined not to miss any shows. He reassured fans that he felt great despite his condition, making it clear that his goal was to return to the show once he was able.
After being absent for a couple of months for treatments including chemotherapy and radiation, Moss kept his promise to return as soon as he was healthy. He had always expressed his desire to get back on set as soon as possible, and now, with his recovery progressing, he’s set to rejoin his ESPN colleagues in time for Super Bowl 2025.
