BREAKING; Former LSU QB Shocks Fans by Being Named Syracuse’s Starting Quarterback!”

Rickie Collins, a former LSU quarterback transfer, has been named the starting QB for Syracuse. On Monday, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown announced that Collins would lead the team this season, praising the progress he made since joining the program. “I think the players are behind him, everybody is behind him,” Brown said.

The competition for the starting role was close, but Collins’ development over the past few months convinced Brown to give him the nod. Collins, a four-star recruit from the 2023 class, was ranked as the No. 17 quarterback and No. 234 overall recruit by On3, and No. 10 by ESPN. During his two years at LSU, he attempted only seven passes for 38 yards and rushed for 37 yards on seven carries, sitting behind quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier. After limited playing time, Collins decided to transfer.

Ranked as the No. 32 quarterback in the 2025 transfer portal by On3, Collins has landed a starting role at a Power Five school and is set to fill the shoes of Kyle McCord, who had a strong performance at quarterback for Syracuse in 2024.
