BREAKING: Giants Land FUTURE Franchise QB and Make Shocking Trade in Latest NFL Mock Draft

The New York Giants are gearing up for a pivotal 2025 NFL Draft, holding the No. 3 overall pick, which could potentially secure them one of the draft’s most promising prospects. However, the Giants could also use the pick to select their next potential franchise quarterback, a major decision considering some of their recent free agency acquisitions.

ESPN’s Latest Mock Draft Has the Giants Taking a Quarterback

In the latest mock draft from Field Yates at ESPN, the Giants are projected to stick with the third overall pick, bypassing one of the top prospects in favor of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders:

“Despite the Giants’ signings of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, I don’t see them passing on Sanders. If they’re confident he’s their future franchise quarterback, the veteran signings don’t matter. This move would be focused on long-term stability. Sanders is known for his exceptional accuracy and touch—he threw for 4,134 yards and completed 74% of his passes last season. However, he needs to work on his urgency under pressure.”

“With Wilson and Winston in the QB room, Sanders can develop and learn without the immediate pressure of starting as QB1.”

Sanders is widely regarded as the second-best quarterback in the draft, but he isn’t typically considered a top-three overall pick. Many draft boards rank him in the 20s or even as low as the 40s. The Giants currently lack a long-term solution at quarterback, with 36-year-old Russell Wilson on a one-year deal and 31-year-old Jameis Winston on a two-year deal.

While selecting Sanders would be seen as a “reach” based on his position in the draft, it would offer the Giants a potential future franchise quarterback. However, this decision would mean passing on one of the draft’s top talents, such as Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter. Some draft analysts consider Hunter to be the best player in this class, so passing on him in favor of a quarterback who may not start immediately could be a tough sell for some fans.

Giants Trade Down and Select Offensive Lineman in Round 2

After selecting Sanders in the first round, Yates projects the Giants to focus on strengthening their offensive line in the second round—not with their current No. 34 overall pick, but by trading down to collect additional draft capital. In this scenario, the Giants pick Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker:

“In this case, the Giants trade down from No. 34, adding an extra fourth-round pick in a deep draft, and then select Booker, who would have been a solid choice at their original spot,” Yates said. “Booker is one of the most powerful players in the draft and has allowed just one sack over 38 career games.”
