BREAKING: Giants Shut Down Rising WR in Stunning Late-Season Move as Two Careers Hang in the Balance

The New York Giants have officially ended the 2025 seasons of wide receiver Beaux Collins and offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu, according to the NFL’s transaction log released on December 31. Both players’ practice windows expired ahead of Week 18, ensuring they will remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

NFL insider Aaron Wilson confirmed the news on social media, noting that Collins and Ezeudu are finished for the year after failing to complete their respective return timelines. The Giants opened each player’s 21-day practice window three weeks ago, but neither was able to progress far enough to return to game action.

Collins has been sidelined with a concussion and neck injury, while Ezeudu has been recovering from a calf issue. While Collins is expected to remain under team control moving forward, Ezeudu’s situation is far more uncertain, as the former third-round pick is set to reach free agency this spring unless re-signed.

Beaux Collins’ Rookie Season Falls Short of Early Buzz

Collins entered the league as a priority undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame and quickly generated excitement during OTAs and training camp. His strong summer performances fueled optimism that he could carve out a meaningful role in the Giants’ wide receiver room.

That momentum never fully translated to the regular season. Collins finished his rookie campaign with just two receptions for 25 yards, while a few early mistakes — including a misread route that led to a Jaxson Dart interception against New Orleans — pushed him down the depth chart before his injury.

Given the opportunity that emerged following Malik Nabers’ injury, Collins’ lack of production was particularly disappointing. Still, the Giants may opt to keep him around for another offseason to see if he can recapture the form he showed early in the year.

Joshua Ezeudu’s Giants Tenure Likely Comes to an End

Ezeudu’s injury news carries greater weight, as his rookie contract is set to expire after the season. Drafted in 2022, the former North Carolina lineman never managed to secure a consistent role despite multiple opportunities.

With only one game remaining on the schedule, Ezeudu’s placement on injured reserve could mark the final chapter of his time in New York. While the Giants could theoretically bring him back on a low-cost deal, the likelihood seems slim given his lack of development and near-constant status as a roster bubble player.

After years of trying to make the pick work, it may be best for both sides to move on. For Ezeudu, an unceremonious finish on injured reserve feels like an unfortunate but fitting end to a disappointing Giants tenure.
