The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their key playmakers for Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith will miss the game due to a hamstring injury after not participating in practice this week.
According to Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Smith was seen limping noticeably following the Eagles’ Week 11 Thursday night win over the Washington Commanders.
Smith first appeared on the injury report with a hamstring issue on November 6 but has played in three games since then. With Smith sidelined, wide receivers Jahan Dotson and rookie Johnny Wilson will see more playing time.
“Both of them have made big plays over the past few weeks,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters on Friday, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. “Johnny caught his first touchdown pass, Jahan had a deep catch in the Jacksonville game, and also in the Dallas game.
They show up every day, work hard, and give it their all.” This marks the second game Smith has missed this season; he also sat out Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering a concussion against the New Orleans Saints.
In other team news, edge rusher Bryce Huff has been placed on injured reserve following wrist surgery. Huff will be out for at least the next four games, though there is a possibility he could return before the end of the regular season.
It has been a disappointing year for Huff, who signed a three-year, $50 million contract in the offseason. He has recorded just 2.5 sacks and five solo tackles, with his playing time diminishing.
The Eagles will aim to improve to 9-2 for the season as they head into their matchup against the Rams, where they are three-point road favorites.
