Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott announced on Friday that starting linebacker Terrel Bernard, receiver Curtis Samuel, and rookie backup defensive tackle DeWayne Carter will be sidelined for this weekend’s game against Seattle.
Bernard will miss the game due to an ankle injury he sustained during last weekend’s 34-10 victory over Tennessee. This follows two games he missed earlier this season due to a pectoral injury from Week 2. Prior to his latest injury, Bernard recorded eight tackles and recovered a fumble.
Carter has been placed on injured reserve and will undergo surgery for a wrist injury, meaning he’ll be out for at least four games. However, he could potentially return for the Bills’ matchup against San Francisco on December 1, after their bye week. Carter had been gaining more playing time and made a crucial stop last game by tackling running back Tony Pollard for a 2-yard loss on fourth down, which helped lead to a Bills scoring drive.
Samuel is also out due to a pectoral injury he suffered last Sunday, though the exact duration of his absence is unclear. With Samuel unavailable, the AFC East-leading Bills (5-2) will have four receivers ready to go, including Amari Cooper, who was recently traded from Cleveland, as they prepare to face the NFC West-leading Seahawks (4-3) on Sunday.
