Pablo Reyes spent the past few seasons with the Boston Red Sox, but now the veteran utility player has signed a minor league contract with their archrivals, the New York Yankees, as reported by Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.
Reyes’ most recent MLB appearance was with the New York Mets, where he played as a pinch runner in a game on September 1, following his trade from the Red Sox to the Mets for cash considerations. Over 22 MLB games last season with the Red Sox and Mets, Reyes batted.183 with no home runs, five RBIs, and one stolen base.
However, in 68 Triple-A games with both teams, he posted a.300 batting average with 12 home runs, 42 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, and an.889 OPS.
Since his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2018, Reyes has accumulated a career.248 batting average with eight home runs, 54 RBIs, 72 runs, and 13 stolen bases across 233 major league games.
With the Yankees facing potential roster changes, including free agency for first baseman Anthony Rizzo and second baseman Gleyber Torres after the World Series, Reyes could have a chance to earn big league playing time next season.
