BREAKING; LSU Women’s Basketball Player Shocks Fans with Transfer to SEC Rival – Here’s Where She’s Headed!

Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers are actively pursuing top talent in the NCAA Transfer Portal as they work to reshape their roster for next season. After a tough Elite Eight loss to UCLA, the focus quickly shifted to recruiting the nation’s best players. One of the most sought-after prospects was Florida State’s Ta’Niya Latson, who led the country in scoring during the 2024-25 season with an impressive 25.2 points per game. Known for her consistent scoring ability, Latson averaged 22.5 points throughout her career and added 4.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game.

Despite LSU’s interest, South Carolina emerged as the favorite in the race for Latson’s services. After a visit to Columbia, the highly coveted player committed to the Gamecocks on Tuesday. Currently, LSU’s only Transfer Portal addition is Kate Koval from Notre Dame, a former Top-10 recruit who is expected to make an immediate impact.

LSU Adds Kate Koval from Notre Dame

LSU has officially announced the addition of 6-5 sophomore Kate Koval to its roster. Coach Kim Mulkey expressed confidence in Koval’s potential, noting that her vision for the player’s development aligns with the program’s goals. “Tiger fans will love the skill, physicality, and passion that Kate will bring with her to Baton Rouge,” Mulkey said.

Koval had a standout freshman season at Notre Dame, contributing to the team’s Sweet 16 run. She averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and led the team with 55 blocks. Her remarkable debut season earned her USBWA National Freshman of the Week honors in November. Koval’s stellar performances included two double-doubles, with a 14-point, 16-rebound effort against James Madison and 11 points with 19 rebounds against Lafayette.

Koval, originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, was one of the top-rated players in the Class of 2024 and earned accolades like New York Gatorade Player of the Year. She played in prestigious events such as the McDonald’s All-America game and the Jordan Brand Classic, showcasing her elite skills on the national stage.
