The LSU Tigers are gearing up for one of their most significant recruiting weekends of the year, hosting top prospects from across the country for unofficial visits. The Tigers strategically scheduled these visits to connect with key targets as they aim to strengthen their 2026 recruiting class. Adding to the excitement, the Battle 7-on-7 high school tournament is taking place in New Orleans, drawing elite talent to Louisiana and giving LSU a prime opportunity to showcase its program.
While LSU already had a large group of recruits planning to visit, the Tigers will also benefit from unplanned stops as teams pass through Baton Rouge. As the weekend kicked off on Friday, head coach Brian Kelly may have had an ace up his sleeve. Every recruit and their families want to hear how LSU will develop them into NFL Draft picks, and Kelly had the perfect example on hand: Will Campbell. The standout offensive lineman, who is projected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, was in attendance to share his experiences and success at LSU.
Campbell’s presence was a major highlight, as he took time to speak with recruits and their families, including Zaden Krempin, a 2026 offensive lineman ranked as the 231st overall player, the 16th-ranked interior offensive lineman, and the 28th-ranked player in Texas. Campbell’s willingness to engage with recruits, even as he prepares for the NFL Draft, speaks volumes about his character and his connection to the LSU program.
This isn’t the first time LSU has leveraged its alumni to boost recruiting efforts. Last cycle, Patrick Peterson played a key role in helping the Tigers land top cornerback DJ Pickett, and other former players have also contributed to recruiting pitches. With Campbell setting the tone this weekend, LSU is poised to make a strong impression on its visitors and continue building the nation’s third-ranked recruiting class.
As the spring recruiting season heats up, LSU’s ability to blend current stars, alumni, and a clear development plan into its pitch could prove to be a game-changer in securing commitments from elite talent.
