BREAKING: Major NC State Transfer Set to Visit Kentucky – Could He Be the Wildcats’ Next Big Star?

The Kentucky Wildcats are potentially in line to add Tamarcus Cooley to their roster for the upcoming season. The 5-foot-11 cornerback from Knightdale, NC, was a key player for the NC State Wolfpack last season.

After a disappointing 10th-place finish in the ACC and a 6-7 overall record, including a loss to East Carolina in the Military Bowl, many players, including Cooley, are considering transfers. NC State struggled with a 3-5 conference record.

Cooley is set to visit several SEC schools in the coming week, including LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Kentucky. According to 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Cooley will visit Lexington next Saturday to meet with the Wildcats.

Cooley, a 3-star recruit and ranked 27th among North Carolina’s top players in the class of 2023, played his freshman season at Maryland before transferring to NC State. This would mark his second transfer.

In the 2024 season, Cooley recorded 39 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, and a 70-yard fumble return. He posted an impressive 80.8 defensive grade and 81.8 coverage grade according to PFF, with the latter ranking 21st among 546 Power Five cornerbacks.

Given his talent, Cooley could emerge as a leader in Mark Stoops’ defensive system. The Wildcats have developed numerous talented defensive backs in recent years, making Kentucky a perfect fit if Cooley decides to spend next season in Lexington.
