Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will miss the entire 2025 NFL season, a significant blow to the Cleveland Browns. His absence has sparked widespread speculation about whether he’ll ever return to the field following the serious neck injury he suffered last season. While nothing has been confirmed, the Browns’ early decision to rule him out this far ahead of the season raises concerns.
Owusu-Koramoah emerged as a standout player in 2023, proving himself as a versatile and dynamic linebacker capable of handling a wide range of responsibilities on defense. Just last August, he signed a contract extension to remain in Cleveland for three more seasons after his rookie deal.
As part of ESPN’s annual NFL personnel survey — which already highlighted Myles Garrett as the premier edge rusher and praised David Njoku’s growth at tight end — JOK earned enough votes to rank as the league’s sixth-best linebacker.
However, due to his injury, he was instead placed in the Honorable Mention category. “He was top three in the league before the injury. A true difference-maker in Jim Schwartz’s system — a tackle-for-loss machine,” one NFL personnel director said.
Though officially slotted at No. 6, many believe he could have ranked even higher if not for his injury. His absence will be a major loss for the Browns’ defense in 2025. The team is counting on linebacker Carson Schwesinger to help fill the void.
