Fresh off helping the Hurricanes eliminate the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night, Hall signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension with Carolina on Wednesday morning. The deal will pay the former first overall draft pick an average of $3.17 million annually.

“Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” said Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky. “He’s been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice.

Hall, acquired in a trade with the Blackhawks earlier this season, posted nine goals and nine assists in 31 regular-season games for Carolina. In the team’s first-round playoff series win over New Jersey, he added a goal and two assists.

Originally selected first overall in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Oilers, Hall has played for seven different teams. He won the league MVP award with the Devils in 2017-18 and enjoyed a productive three-season stint with the Bruins (2021–2023), tallying 111 points (44 goals, 67 assists) in 157 games before being dealt to Chicago due to salary cap constraints after the 2022–23 season.
