Breaking-News: Massive Defensive Boost As South Carolina Lands Ball State DB Myles Norwood In Shocking SEC Transfer Move!

South Carolina has strengthened its secondary for the 2025 season with the addition of defensive back Myles Norwood, who is transferring from Ball State in the MAC. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound cornerback from St. Louis made the decision to step up his competition by joining the SEC, marking a significant leap in his college career.

Norwood had narrowed his options down to two schools: South Carolina and Kentucky. Ultimately, he chose the Gamecocks over the Wildcats, committing to Columbia.

In 2024, Norwood had a standout season with the Cardinals, recording 38 total tackles, 22 of which were solo, along with 2 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.

According to Pro Football Focus, he earned an impressive coverage grade of 71.8 after logging 456 snaps across 12 games. Most of his snaps were at outside cornerback, though he also played 48 snaps at the nickel position, with 35 of those coming in a single game.

Kentucky, which has several defensive backs either leaving for the NFL Draft or transferring, could have really used Norwood’s talent, but he opted to join an SEC rival instead.

With his proven ability to make an impact at Ball State, Norwood is expected to be a key contributor to South Carolina’s secondary in 2025, adding valuable experience and depth to the Gamecocks’ defensive lineup.
