Breaking-News: NHL Scoring Blunder Corrected in Bruins’ 7-2 Blowout Bruins-Devils Game – Major Change Shakes Up Stats!

The NHL issued a scoring correction after the Boston Bruins’ 7-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday at the Prudential Center. The league shared the update on its Public Relations account on X: “OFFICIAL SCORING CHANGE: Game 1238 @NHLBruins at @NJDevils Goal at 9:38 of the first period now reads David Pastrnak from Morgan Geekie. #NHLStats.

” The adjustment altered the stats from the Bruins’ opening goal, which was originally credited to Pastrnak with an assist from Parker Whotherspoon. After review, it was determined that Morgan Geekie, not Whotherspoon, had the assist. This goal was Pastrnak’s 41st of the season and marked the start of his three-point night.

He later recorded two assists, reaching 100 points for the third consecutive season and extending his point streak to seven games. “I don’t take it for granted,” said Pastrnak. “I’m just happy we got the win and hope we can finish the season strong.” With the change, Geekie now has 23 assists and 53 points in 74 games, while Whotherspoon’s tally drops to six assists in 52 games.

Boston scored three goals before the Devils responded late in the second period with goals from Stefan Noesen and Timo Meier. Bruins coach Joe Sacco called a timeout, which seemed to have a positive effect, as Boston scored four unanswered goals afterward.

“We just felt like we needed to settle things down,” Sacco said. “We ended up playing a better second half of that period.” The Bruins (32-38-9) improved to 2-10-1 in their last 13 games but have already been eliminated from playoff contention. The Devils, on the other hand, fell to 41-30-7 and missed the chance to secure a postseason spot.
