There’s renewed energy and optimism surrounding the New York Giants as they gear up for the 2025 season. After a disastrous 2024 that left them at 3–14 and anchored at the bottom of the NFC East, the team is undergoing a dramatic transformation—despite retaining head coach Brian Daboll.
Central to this reboot is veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, whose experience and leadership are expected to anchor the offense. A former Super Bowl champion with Seattle (XLVIII) and participant in XLIX, Wilson brings proven postseason savoir-faire to New York.
Giants fans would go wild if the team made it to the Super Bowl in 2025. Although that would exceed expectations, even a playoff appearance would signal a major turnaround. Wilson recently explained why he chose New York and made a promise to the faithful.
At Fanatics Fest last weekend, Wilson revealed his signing was strongly influenced by second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers. “I came here because of him,” he said, per Empire Sports Media. He emphasized that the team also boasts a hardworking defense and a fierce pass rush, calling their roster talent “a good thing.”
Wilson echoed those sentiments earlier this month on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. He expressed confidence in the Giants’ potential, stating, “I fundamentally believe it’s possible again… to be successful again and at the highest level. We’ve got the right guys.”
Beyond Nabers, WR Wan’Dale Robinson also praised Wilson’s impact. Fresh off a Super Bowl, Robinson recalled hooking up with Wilson in practice and being impressed: “This is actually better than we expected,” he said, adding that returning to MetLife Stadium feels like a homecoming. “Not just been here but, like, we did this before.”
