The Braves have long been aggressive when it comes to promoting their top young talent, and their latest fast-riser is Didier Fuentes, who just earned a call-up to Triple-A Gwinnett. That puts him in elite company—joining Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies as the only teenagers to ever suit up for the Stripers.
Fuentes, who signed with Atlanta for just $75,000 in January 2022, had a rocky first full season with Augusta in 2023. But he showed clear improvement after starting the 2024 season back in Single-A. While his 2025 ERA (5.19 between A and AA) doesn’t jump off the page, his raw talent absolutely does.
Armed with a mid-90s fastball that can reach 98 mph, Fuentes combines electric velocity with exceptional control, making it a swing-and-miss pitch. His best secondary weapon is a sharp mid-80s slider, and the blend of his power stuff, athleticism, and youth gives Braves fans plenty of reason to be excited about what’s to come.
