Breaking-News: Unexpected Outcome As USC Loses Both Dynamic Wide Receiver And Safety To Georgia In Transfer Portal.

Former USC stars Zachariah and Zion Branch have announced they are transferring to Georgia, a move that’s sure to shake up the college football landscape.

Zachariah Branch, a standout wide receiver and dynamic return specialist, was USC’s second-leading receiver in 2024, with 47 catches for 503 yards and a touchdown. Over two seasons, he accumulated 823 yards on 78 receptions and scored four total touchdowns (three receiving, one rushing). He earned All-American honors in 2023 and took home the prestigious Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers Award as the top return specialist in the nation.

Branch led the NCAA in punt return average in 2023 (20.8 yards) and also topped the Pac-12 with 332 punt return yards. In 2024, he averaged 5.7 yards on 13 returns. Additionally, he has one career punt return touchdown and one kickoff return touchdown.

Branch, who is listed at 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, is ranked as the No. 4 player in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings and the No. 2 wide receiver. When asked about his decision to join Georgia, he expressed admiration for the program’s culture, strong coaching staff, and the opportunity to succeed both on and off the field.

Zion Branch, a safety who also has two years of eligibility left, is ranked No. 269 overall and No. 16 among safeties in the transfer portal. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defensive back finished the season with 19 tackles, one sack, and three pass breakups in 12 games.

In total, he has 41 tackles over 21 career games but has been limited by injuries in the past two seasons. Zion explained that his choice to transfer to Georgia was driven by the program’s history of success, its exceptional coaching staff, and the opportunity to develop both on and off the field.

The Branch brothers, originally from Las Vegas, will reunite with former USC assistant Donte Williams, who now serves as Georgia’s defensive backs coach.
