Breaking-News: Vikings Bring in Record-Setting QB With Local Ties After Award-Winning Season

Vikings Bring in Record-Breaking Small-School Star for Rookie Minicamp

Head coach Kevin O’Connell and the Minnesota Vikings will host their rookie minicamp from May 9–11, and under center will be a new face: quarterback Zach Zebrowski, who’s not just auditioning for a roster spot—he’s out to prove he belongs.

Zebrowski was a two-year starter at Central Missouri, where he lit up the stat sheet. Despite coming from two smaller programs, he’s been turning heads. CBS Sports’ Emory Hunt ranked him as the No. 1 small-college QB in his mock draft, calling him “one of the best quarterbacks in this draft class, regardless of subdivision.”

Zebrowski’s numbers are staggering: 68.3% completion rate, 9,881 passing yards, 101 touchdowns, and only 17 interceptions in his time with the Mules. He threw 61 touchdown passes in 2023 alone, earning back-to-back Harlon Hill Trophies—the Division II equivalent of the Heisman.

Zach Zebrowski,

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound mobile QB also has local ties. He threw a TD pass during a brief stint at Southern Illinois in 2022 and was the lone quarterback invited to throw at the Kansas City Chiefs’ local prospect day in April, where he impressed scouts with what was called a “high IQ” and “outstanding throwing session.”

For Zebrowski, a spot at Vikings minicamp is more than an opportunity—it’s personal. He grew up in Minnesota, attended East Ridge High School in Woodbury, and earned honors in both football and basketball. His father, Jim Zebrowski, coached QBs at the University of Minnesota from 2011–2015 and is currently the co-offensive coordinator at Kansas.

Now, as Zach prepares to turn 24 this June, he’s come full circle—chasing his NFL dream back where it all began.
