Breaking-News: Yankees Eyed in Potential Trade for Coveted $66 Million Power Bat

As the July 31, 2025 MLB trade deadline approaches, the New York Yankees have several key decisions to make. With ongoing trade buzz, the team is exploring ways to upgrade the infield and potentially bolster its pitching depth in pursuit of a World Series run.

One path could involve promoting a young prospect as a long-term solution, potentially replacing Jazz Chisholm. However, another option gaining traction is a move for a seasoned veteran who can make an immediate impact.

Yahoo Sports’ Russell Dorsey recently named the Yankees as a top destination for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, citing his coveted right-handed power.

“Right-handed power is hard to come by in baseball these days, which makes Eugenio Suárez a highly coveted player,” Dorsey wrote in a June 18 article. “The D-backs’ third baseman has been one of the game’s top power threats this season, batting .234 with 21 home runs and 58 RBI.”

Is it time for a Diamondbacks change at 3B with Eugenio Suarez?

Dorsey also pointed out that Suárez ranks sixth in MLB in home runs since 2019, trailing only Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, Kyle Schwarber, Shohei Ohtani, and Matt Olson. Beyond his bat, Suárez is known as a strong clubhouse presence — a valuable asset for any playoff contender.

Suárez is in the final year of a seven-year, $66 million deal, making him a potential rental unless the Yankees plan to negotiate an extension. Still, his recent hot streak — batting .251 with 25 home runs and 67 RBI — makes him an appealing addition to a lineup already powered by Judge and others.

If the Yankees are serious about going all-in, Eugenio Suárez could be the veteran bat that helps push them over the top.
