The Tennessee Volunteers are making waves early in the 2026 recruiting cycle, but not all of their verbal commitments may end up signing with the program. Among the eight current commits, four-star tight end Carson Sneed seems to be the most uncertain.
Sneed, a standout from Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, has reportedly scheduled a visit to the Colorado Buffaloes this Saturday, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong and BuffStampede.com’s Adam Munsterteiger. Rated as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports composite rankings, Sneed is one of the top 300 recruits nationally, a top 15 tight end, and the No. 7 prospect in Tennessee for the 2026 class.
While Sneed has been verbally committed to Tennessee since August, his interest in Colorado has grown since receiving an offer from the Buffaloes in January. The allure of playing under Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders appears to be a significant factor.
“I’m really interested in the opportunity to get coached by some legends and guys with lots of football knowledge,” Sneed told On3. “If I end up there, I could get developed by those guys.”
For Tennessee, the challenge is convincing Sneed to stay close to home and play for the Volunteers, where he could represent his home state on the field. However, the appeal of Sanders’ coaching and the opportunity to be part of Colorado’s rebuilding program under a legendary figure like “Coach Prime” could sway his decision.
As the recruiting battle heats up, all eyes will be on Sneed’s upcoming visit to Colorado and whether the Volunteers can hold onto one of their top 2026 commitments.
