TAMPA, Fla. — Former Central Heights standout Duke Ellis made waves in New York Yankees camp, notching his first spring training hit during a dominant 7-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 25-year-old outfielder entered the game as a sixth-inning defensive replacement in center field before delivering a seventh-inning single off Cardinals reliever Riley O’Brien.

Ellis, a minor-league prospect, showcased his potential in the Yankees’ Grapefruit League matchup, adding a bright spot to the team’s 2-3 preseason record. New York looks to build momentum in their next game against the Philadelphia Phillies at 12:05 p.m. ET.
