The Auburn men’s basketball team took a major step toward securing the Southeastern Conference regular season championship with a commanding 94-78 victory over Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Saturday. The win clinched at least a share of the SEC title for the Tigers, but they needed a little extra help to claim it outright. That help came in the form of Tennessee, who defeated Alabama on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Jahmai Mashack later that evening.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl, a former Tennessee coach, celebrated the moment on X (formerly Twitter) with a post referencing “VFL,” which stands for “Vol for life,” a term embraced by Tennessee fans. Pearl, who led Tennessee from 2005 to 2011 before being fired due to a recruiting scandal, has been at Auburn since 2014 and has now guided the Tigers to another SEC championship.
