The Clemson Tigers football team is gearing up for their spring game this Saturday, marking their final gathering before fall practices. On Wednesday, the team unveiled the schedule and scoring system for the event.
Parking lots at Clemson Memorial Stadium will open at 8 a.m., with a surplus sale at Littlejohn Coliseum starting simultaneously. The Be a T.I.G.E.R. Field Day will kick off at 9 a.m. on Littlejohn East Lawn. Fans can join the Tiger Walk and the 2024 captains’ ceremony at 11:30 a.m., with Memorial Stadium gates also opening at that time. Warm-ups and drills begin at noon, with the game itself slated to start at 1 p.m.
The spring game will feature the offense versus the defense, with both sides able to score points in various ways. The offense can earn traditional points, with seven for a touchdown and extra point, two for a two-point conversion, and three for a field goal. The defense has eight scoring opportunities, including one point for a three-and-out or missed PAT, two for stopping a two-point conversion or a safety, and three for a takeaway, fourth-down stop, or a missed field goal. A defensive touchdown with an extra point scores seven points.
The offense will wear orange, and the defense will wear white. This year’s spring game will differ from recent events in a few ways: it won’t be broadcast live on TV, as the Tigers decided not to televise the game despite holding it. Instead, a live audio broadcast will be available via the Clemson Athletic Network and the Clemson Tigers App. Additionally, the Tigers will air a one-hour special on spring football on ACC Network and Clemson+.
For the first time, alcohol will be sold at the spring game, as Clemson’s athletic department announced this week that alcohol sales will begin at sporting events, starting with this game.
