ESPN basketball recruiting insider Jeff Borzello and staff writer Myron Medcalf analyzed the Final Four teams and kept their assessment of Florida straightforward:
“They have faced more adversity than expected in recent weeks, but you can never count them out until the final buzzer. The Gators have secured five wins against top-20 KenPom teams by 14 or more points in March, proving they won’t back down from a challenge.”
Despite Florida’s resilience, Borzello and Medcalf still question how well the team handles high-pressure situations. While their dramatic comebacks against Texas Tech and UConn showcased their grit, the intensity of the Final Four presents an entirely new level of pressure—one that Auburn has experience navigating.
The Johni Broome Factor
Auburn’s All-American forward Johni Broome adds another layer of complexity to Florida’s game plan. In their last matchup, Broome posted an impressive stat line with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. While Florida managed to limit his overall impact, fully containing Auburn’s star player remains a challenge.
