The Florida Gators have landed a major addition to their 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star linebacker Izayia Williams out of Tavares High School in Florida. Measuring 6-foot-1 and weighing 215 pounds, Williams is regarded as the No. 2 linebacker nationally in the 2026 class, according to On3.
Williams’ recruitment has been a rollercoaster. He first pledged to Louisville in November 2023, but backed off that commitment in January 2024. He later committed to Syracuse in April and then to Florida State in September, but both commitments were short-lived, with the latest decommitment coming in November 2024.
Through it all, Florida remained a consistent presence in his recruitment. Williams called the Gators’ offer special, saying, “I grew up a fan of the Gators and I can’t turn the opportunity to play at Florida down.”
On the field, Williams turned heads during his junior year, racking up 125 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks, and a pick-six. He also made an impact on offense, rushing for 423 yards and six touchdowns, while adding 97 receiving yards and four scores through the air.
Williams’ commitment is a major win for head coach Billy Napier, who continues to bring in top in-state prospects. He joins fellow Floridians quarterback Austin Simmons and safety Devin Jackson in the 2026 class.
Williams is set to take an official visit to Gainesville on June 13, where he’ll get a closer look at the program and continue building his bond with the coaching staff.
Stay tuned for more on what his commitment means for the future of Gators football.
