GOOD-NEWS: Amazon Just Dropped A Huge Announcement: Starting In 2025, Prime Video will Exclusively stream 21 New York Yankees Regular-Season Games – Is This the Future of Sports Streaming?

On Wednesday, Amazon announced that it will exclusively stream 21 New York Yankees regular-season games on its Prime Video service for the 2025 season, as streaming platforms face growing competition to secure live sports broadcasts.

The games will be available to Prime Video members in New York State, Connecticut, northern and central New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania at no additional cost — regions that make up a large portion of the Yankees’ fanbase.

As cable television, traditionally the home of live sports, continues to lose ground, digital platforms are rapidly stepping in to capture the expanding audience shifting away from traditional TV subscriptions.

Netflix, a leader in the streaming space, has significantly ramped up its investment in live sports, acquiring rights to high-profile events like the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match in an effort to diversify its offerings and attract a wider audience. In addition, the platform paid over $5 billion for exclusive rights to WWE’s Raw in several regions starting this year, and it’s reportedly eyeing a bid for U.S. Formula 1 broadcast rights.

This trend has pushed other streaming services, like Prime Video, to increase their live sports offerings in order to boost subscriber growth and advertising revenue, as live events tend to attract highly engaged viewers.

Currently, Prime Video also streams the NBA, Thursday Night Football, NASCAR, the Seattle Kraken, and Overtime Elite, among others, in the U.S.
