HOT-NEWS; Hidden Gem Alert: Vikings Urged to Draft This Disruptive Pass Rusher

The Vikings may be looking to the NFL Draft to add size to their defensive line’s interior. While they’ve already invested in the defensive line this offseason by signing Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave to two-year contracts, there is still a need for additional depth. Many mock drafts project the Vikings will target a defensive lineman early in the draft. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has suggested some potential solutions for Minnesota to address these concerns.

In an article published Thursday, PFF’s Jordan Plocher proposed players the Vikings could consider selecting in the first and third rounds based on their most pressing needs. With the Vikings focused on improving the interior defensive line, Plocher recommended Oregon defensive lineman Derrick Harmon as a day-one pick.

Derrick Harmon NFL Draft 2025: Scouting Report for Oregon DL

Derrick Harmon

Harmon is a versatile defensive tackle prospect, earning an 80.5 run-defense grade and an 86.3 pass-rush grade in 2024,” Plocher wrote. Harmon would provide the Vikings with a strong run stopper and a dynamic pass rusher, having posted five sacks and led the FBS with 55 quarterback pressures in 2024. His impressive 4.95-second 40-yard dash at 313 pounds turned heads at the NFL Combine last month.

Despite ranking among the top five in the NFL with 49 sacks, the Vikings only recorded three sacks from their defensive tackle position last season. The 2025 NFL Draft offers one of the deepest defensive line classes in recent years, making it the perfect opportunity for Minnesota to bolster their front.
