A Super Bowl champion and key contributor to South Carolina State’s offensive success, Goddard is bringing his championship experience from the HBCU ranks to a new Division I FCS school. A two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints, Goddard spent the last eight seasons at S.C. State, where he played a vital role in the Bulldogs’ multiple Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) titles and their 2021 HBCU National Championship victory.

As the Bulldogs’ offensive line coach and NFL Pro-Liaison, he was instrumental in developing one of the top rushing offenses in FCS. In 2023, his offensive line ranked fifth nationally, averaging 220 rushing yards per game and surpassing 2,600 yards on the season. Under his leadership, S.C. State secured another MEAC title in 2024, finishing as runners-up in the Celebration Bowl against Jackson State. His ability to turn linemen into dominant players in HBCU football earned him great respect as one of the best in his field.

Before his time at S.C. State, Goddard coached at Newberry College, where his offensive lines helped set multiple school records, including for scoring, passing yards, and total offense. His ability to create strong, disciplined units was evident throughout his career.

A standout player at South Carolina under renowned coaches Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier, Goddard’s career took him from the SEC to the NFL, where he earned two Super Bowl rings. Now, Goddard will bring his high-level experience to West Georgia, aiding in its transition to the Division I ranks. Though his departure is a loss for the HBCU runner-up, his influence on the game continues to expand. With his championship mindset and proven track record, Goddard is poised to help shape West Georgia’s offensive line for years to come.
