INJURY UPDATE; METCALF’S KNEE SHATTERS SEAHAWKS’ PLAYOFF HOPES;’ Coach’s Optimism Won’t Save Season

During the Seattle Seahawks’ 34-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, DK Metcalf was carted off the field due to a knee injury. The 26-year-old wide receiver was injured while trying to catch a pass from Geno Smith, colliding with Falcons safety Justin Simmons and landing awkwardly out of bounds.

Fortunately, Metcalf’s condition may not be as serious as initially feared. Head coach Mike McDonald mentioned in his post-game press conference that Metcalf “banged his knee a little bit,” adding that “it doesn’t look too bad,” according to John Boyle. Metcalf left the game in the fourth quarter after recording four receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown.

It remains to be seen if Metcalf will participate in practice this week ahead of a crucial matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but early indications suggest his injury might not be significant. The Seahawks experienced a similar situation with Metcalf’s knee in 2022 when he was carted off against the Los Angeles Chargers but missed no games afterward. Throughout his career, Metcalf has only missed one game.
