JUST-ANNOUNCE: Blockbuster Alert: Vikings Eye Massive Deal to Land $72M 7x Pro Bowler Superstar in Shocking Trade Proposal with Dolphins!”

Major NFL news broke earlier this week as NFL Media reported that the Miami Dolphins and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey have “mutually agreed” to explore trade options. While there should be no shortage of interest in the seven-time Pro Bowler, any deal will need to make sense not just in terms of team need, but financially as well.

Ramsey, who turns 31 this season, didn’t earn a Pro Bowl nod in 2024 — the first time since his rookie year — but he still played at a high level. He allowed a passer rating of 83.2 in coverage and recorded 11 pass breakups, earning a spot as Pro Football Focus’s 10th-ranked cornerback.

The Minnesota Vikings, who re-signed Byron Murphy and added Isaiah Rodgers in free agency, still face depth concerns in the secondary. That makes them a potential landing spot for Ramsey. While Ramsey and Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores never overlapped during their respective time in Miami, he did play under Kevin O’Connell with the Rams in 2021 — a connection that could help bridge the gap.

Any team looking to trade for Ramsey must also consider his contract. He signed a three-year, $72.3 million deal with Miami last fall. A $4 million roster bonus has already been paid, but the acquiring team would still be responsible for $21.1 million guaranteed this year. Though the guaranteed money ends after 2024, the Dolphins would still absorb some dead cap space depending on when and how the deal is structured.

With the NFL Draft kicking off on Thursday, April 24, the Dolphins may look to move Ramsey before then. Vikings Territory’s Dustin Baker floated a trade proposal involving Minnesota, while Bleacher Report followed up with its own version — leaving out a 2026 sixth-round pick included in Baker’s. Minnesota currently holds only four picks in the 2024 draft, but Ramsey’s elite skill set could justify parting with one, especially if the Vikings look to trade back in the first round to replenish their draft capital.
