JUST-IN: Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. Receives Incredible’ All-Star Honor After Missing Half the Season — And the Crowd Went WILD

Ronald Acuña Jr. Named 2025 All-Star Starter, Returns to Midsummer Classic at Home in Atlanta

Ronald Acuña Jr. is officially heading back to the MLB All-Star Game—and the timing couldn’t be more perfect for both the Atlanta Braves and their fans. The superstar outfielder has been named a starter for the National League in the 2025 All-Star Game, which will be played at Truist Park, the Braves’ home stadium. It marks the fifth All-Star selection of Acuña’s career.

Despite missing a significant chunk of the season due to injury, Acuña led all National League outfielders in fan votes, a clear sign of the strong bond he shares with Braves Nation. In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter) by 92.9 The Game’s Grant McAuley, Acuña expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s incredible. I have to give all the credit to the fans. I missed a lot of time, but they made this dream possible.”

This year’s All-Star Game carries extra weight as it’s the first time Atlanta has hosted the event since 2000, and Acuña will be the only Braves player in the NL starting lineup—a fitting recognition for a player who’s battled back from his second ACL tear in four seasons. Ahead of Atlanta’s 8–3 win over the Angels, McAuley also shared another quote from Acuña, where the reigning 2023 NL MVP spoke about his deep ties to the city: “Outside of Venezuela, Atlanta is my second home. I want to stay here for the rest of my career.”

Now in his eighth season with Atlanta, Acuña has already built a legacy. He’s racked up 174 home runs, 435 RBIs, and 858 hits with a .292 career batting average. His trophy case includes an MVP award, Rookie of the Year honors, a World Series ring, and three Silver Sluggers.

Since returning from his ACL injury in late May, Acuña has been electric—posting a .350 average with 9 home runs and a 1.077 OPS in just 35 games. His 2.0 fWAR ranks among the top 10 outfielders in the NL, despite playing far fewer games than most.

Acuña’s All-Star selection means even more knowing it’s happening in front of the fans who voted him in, in a ballpark he proudly calls home. For the Braves, still pushing for a playoff spot, his resurgence and All-Star spotlight could be exactly what the team—and the city—needs to ignite a powerful second-half run.
