Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter recently identified Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias as a top “buy-low” trade option this season. While Reuter didn’t name any specific teams that might pursue Iglesias, he emphasized the right-hander’s potential value.
“Raisel Iglesias was among the elite relievers in 2024, converting 34 of 38 save opportunities with a 1.95 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and 2.9 WAR over 66 games in his third season with Atlanta,” Reuter noted. “He won’t be earning another All-Star selection this year, though, after losing his firm grip on the closer role and becoming part of a bullpen committee.”
Despite his struggles, Reuter pointed out that Iglesias remains an intriguing option due to his strong track record. The 35-year-old still boasts a solid 36.5% whiff rate on his signature changeup and averages 94.5 mph with his fastball—indicators that he could still contribute meaningfully to a contender’s bullpen.
Although Reuter didn’t connect Iglesias to any particular team, the Los Angeles Dodgers could be a logical fit. Their bullpen, while talented, is dealing with several injuries, as is their starting rotation.
Acquiring Iglesias at a reduced price could give them depth without a long-term financial commitment, as he’s set to become a free agent after the season. The Dodgers could let him walk or consider re-signing him based on his performance. Either way, a bullpen addition like Iglesias would align well with the team’s needs.
