Trea Turner launched a leadoff home run and added two singles as the Philadelphia Phillies stretched their winning streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday night, opening a four-game set.

Max Kepler also homered, while Alec Bohm contributed two hits and drove in two runs for Philadelphia.

Rookie pitcher Mick Abel (2-0) delivered five strong innings, giving up just one run on three hits and striking out three in his fourth big league start. Orion Kerkering pitched a perfect ninth to earn his first career save.

Kepler broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with a solo homer off Marlins starter Sandy Alcántara, his ninth of the year.

Turner’s RBI single in the seventh extended the lead to 3-1, but Miami trimmed it to 3-2 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Agustín Ramírez.

The Phillies added insurance in the ninth with Bohm’s two-run single. Alcántara (3-8) surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five to move past Josh Johnson for second on Miami’s all-time strikeout list with 834.

Turner homered on the second pitch of the game, marking his 18th career leadoff home run and second of the season.

Miami tied the game in the second with an RBI single from Connor Norby.

Marlins center fielder Dane Myers left the game in the third after being hit on the left elbow by a 95-mph fastball from Abel in his second-inning at-bat.

Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott made a key defensive play, diving to snag a line drive from Xavier Edwards with the bases loaded to end the second.

Philadelphia has now scored 56 first-inning runs this season, second-most in the majors behind the Dodgers, who had 58 entering Monday.

On Tuesday, the Phillies will send LHP Jesús Luzardo (6-2, 4.23 ERA) to the mound, while the Marlins will counter with RHP Cal Quantrill (3-7, 5.61 ERA).
