Michael Harris II and Marcell Ozuna each hit three-run home runs late in the game to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 12-4 comeback win over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Friday in the first of a three-game set. The Braves have now won three of their last four, while the Rockies have dropped six of their past seven. Atlanta also leads the season series 3-1.
Harris tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning with a two-out, three-run shot to right field off Jake Bird, who had not surrendered an earned run in his previous 10 appearances. It marked Harris’ third homer in six games and his sixth overall this season.
Ozuna put Atlanta ahead in the seventh with a two-out, three-run homer to left field off Victor Vodnik (1-2), his 11th of the year and first since June 1. He later added a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Enyel De Los Santos (2-2) picked up the win, with Raisel Iglesias and Dylan Lee each contributing a scoreless inning to close things out.
Neither starting pitcher earned a decision. Atlanta’s Bryce Elder went 3 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, with three walks and two strikeouts. Colorado’s German Marquez lasted five innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out seven and walking one.
The Rockies jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning, highlighted by Ryan McMahon’s two-run blast to center — his ninth homer and third in his last six games. He finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Atlanta responded in the bottom of the first with a run when Ronald Acuña Jr. scored on Matt Olson’s shallow sacrifice fly. Acuña had a strong day, going 3-for-4 and stealing his first base of the season.
Colorado extended its lead to 4-1 in the fourth, with RBI singles from Hunter Goodman and McMahon, chasing Elder from the game. The Braves sealed the win with a five-run eighth inning, aided by three Colorado errors.
