JUST-IN: Giants Set To Offer Lifeline Career Redemption To Wide Receiver After $39 million Receiver Was Dumped By Jaguars

The New York Giants are reportedly considering offering a career revival to wide receiver Gabe Davis following his unexpected release by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Just one year after signing a lucrative three-year, $39 million contract, Davis was let go by the Jaguars, who incurred a $20.3 million dead cap hit in the process .

Davis, 26, previously thrived under Giants head coach Brian Daboll during their time together with the Buffalo Bills. Drafted in the fourth round by Buffalo in 2020, Davis amassed 27 touchdowns over four seasons, including a standout performance with four touchdown receptions in a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs . His familiarity with Daboll’s system could make him a valuable addition to the Giants’ receiving corps.

The Giants have been actively seeking to bolster their wide receiver depth this offseason, adding veterans Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Zach Pascal, as well as six undrafted free agents. At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Davis fits the physical profile the team is targeting . With the Giants’ current receiving group featuring Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton, Davis could provide the experience and playmaking ability needed to complement their offense.

While Davis’ recent performance with the Jaguars was hindered by injuries, including a torn meniscus that ended his season early, his prior success with the Bills and his connection to Daboll make him a compelling option for the Giants as they look to strengthen their receiving options.
