The New Orleans Saints are set to begin their search for a new defensive coordinator by interviewing Daronte Jones, the current defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Jones has already attracted interest from other teams this offseason, with interviews scheduled with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears for their own defensive coordinator vacancies.

Jones has built a strong coaching resume over the years. Before returning to the Vikings in 2022, he served as the defensive backs coach for Minnesota in 2020. He also spent time with the Miami Dolphins as their assistant defensive backs coach from 2016 to 2017.

From 2018 to 2019, Jones was the cornerbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Additionally, in 2021, he held the position of defensive coordinator at LSU, where he further honed his defensive strategy and leadership skills. His varied coaching background and success in developing top-tier defensive players have made him a highly sought-after candidate in this coaching cycle.
