JUST-IN: Sean Murphy’s Huge Game Wakes Braves’ Offense Finally After Embarrassing Start – Is This the Turning Point Atlanta Desperately Needed?

There’s no sugarcoating it—the Atlanta Braves’ offense has been painfully bad to start the 2025 season. With far too many lifeless at-bats and an abysmal showing with runners in scoring position, the Braves rank second-to-last in runs scored… just barely above the Rockies. Yes, the Rockies. That’s flat-out unacceptable for a lineup this stacked with talent.

Thankfully, there was a flicker of life when it mattered most. In the top of the ninth, Nick Allen roped a leadoff double, and Michael Harris II—aka “Money Mike”—finally delivered the clutch moment fans have been begging for. His two-run bomb gave Atlanta a late lead, and though it was shaky, it was enough to secure the win.

Now, let’s be real: one game doesn’t erase the bigger concerns about this offense. The Braves still look lost far too often, but there are signs of a possible turnaround. Sean Murphy is starting to rake, Austin Riley is heating up, and Marcell Ozuna’s been a steady presence. For now, that might be enough to keep the ship afloat.

Saturday’s matchup with the Rays looked like more of the same early on. Through six innings against Drew Rasmussen and the bullpen, the Braves’ bats were silent, blowing yet more chances to score. But in the seventh, something shifted.

Murphy sparked the rally with a solo shot to bring the Braves within one. Not groundbreaking, but at least it prevented another soul-crushing loss. Then in the eighth, Ozzie Albies and Murphy went back-to-back to tie things up. Still no magic with runners on, but momentum was finally swinging in Atlanta’s favor.

And in the ninth? Money Mike cashed in. For once, the Braves delivered in a high-leverage moment—one that might just kick-start the turnaround fans have been waiting for.
