JUST-IN; Significant Move As Yankees Could Land $24 Million 2-Time All-Star Slugger in Bold Trade Move

After losing outfielder Juan Soto to free agency, the New York Yankees have bolstered their roster with a few key acquisitions.

They brought in outfielder Cody Bellinger and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, but there’s still an open spot in their infield following the departure of second baseman Gleyber Torres. General manager Brian Cashman may now look to the Los Angeles Dodgers and consider pursuing infielder Max Muncy to fill the gap.

Muncy, who could potentially take over at third base and allow Jazz Chisholm Jr. to move to second, has a $14.5 million salary for 2025, with a $10 million club option for 2026.

Although the 34-year-old veteran slugger has battled injuries in recent seasons, appearing in only 73 games last year, Muncy could offer the Yankees a more reliable option at the hot corner compared to DJ LeMahieu.

Muncy has posted a .221/.346/.468 line since 2021, averaging 27 home runs, 21 doubles, 79 RBIs, and 77 runs per season. The Dodgers, with left-handed hitters like Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Ha-Seong Kim, and Michael Conforto already on the roster, may not have an urgent need for another lefty bat, making Muncy potentially available for a move. If the Dodgers trade veteran third baseman Nolan Arenado, Muncy could become even more expendable.
