Giants Overhaul QB Room Ahead of 2025, But Offense Still Near Bottom in NFL Rankings
The New York Giants made some notable additions to their quarterback room ahead of the 2025 season, including a former Super Bowl champion, a past No. 1 overall pick, and a promising rookie. Despite these changes, one NFL analyst remains highly skeptical of their offensive potential.
PFSN Ranks Giants Offense 31st Entering 2025
When your offense is rated second-worst in the league—only ahead of the Cleveland Browns—it’s a clear sign that challenges remain. That’s exactly how Kyle Soppe from Pro Football & Sports Network sees the Giants heading into 2025.
Soppe remarked, “It appears the Giants have already hit rock bottom (ranking in the bottom two in three of the last four seasons). They’re not brimming with instant talent, but rookies like Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Malik Nabers have shown enough to be optimistic about the future.”
Calling the offense “rock bottom” certainly doesn’t inspire confidence, and expectations for this group remain low heading into the season.
Soppe also stated, “Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are merely placeholders at quarterback. The development of first-round pick Jaxson Dart, selected 25th overall, will be crucial to this rebuild. Ideally, he’ll gain experience in a low-pressure environment this year and be ready to lead the team in 2026.”
Both Wilson and Winston have been released by two teams each over the last two years, so expectations for a career resurgence are understandably muted. Meanwhile, Dart—seen as the future of the franchise—may need time to adjust from Lane Kiffin’s offense at Ole Miss to Brian Daboll’s more complex system.
As it stands, the Giants’ quarterback situation lacks stability, which casts doubt on the team’s ability to significantly improve in 2025.
Beyond Malik Nabers, Who Can the Giants Rely On?
Wide receiver Malik Nabers was a major win for GM Joe Schoen in the 2024 draft. Despite instability at quarterback, the LSU standout delivered 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in just 15 games.
However, it’s unclear who else the offense can depend on. Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. showed explosive potential, but the team also drafted power back Cam Skattebo, who thrives with a heavy workload.
Receivers Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and tight end Theo Johnson all offer depth but none stand out as clear No. 2 options.
It will fall to head coach Brian Daboll to patch together a functional offense from these pieces in 2025. If he fails, the franchise could be starting over yet again in 2026—with Jaxson Dart learning under a new coaching staff.
