JUST-IN: “Unrecognizable” Giants WR Jalin Hyatt Packs on 20+ Pounds in Shocking Offseason Transformation

Jalin Hyatt’s first two seasons with the New York Giants have been anything but smooth. The former third-round pick has struggled to find a meaningful role in an offense desperate for dependable receivers.

In his rookie campaign in 2023, Hyatt managed 23 receptions for 373 yards. But in 2024, his production fell off dramatically—just 62 yards on 8 catches from 19 targets across 16 games. Performances like that can make a player disappear from the radar entirely, but Hyatt is working to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Appearing on the Giants Huddle podcast, Hyatt revealed he’s made significant changes to his body, gaining over 20 pounds this offseason.

“I played at about 170, 171 last year. Now I’m up to around 194, 195,” he said. “That’s what darkness does to you—it changes you. The speed’s still there, but now it’s about learning how to move and play at this new weight—being faster, stronger, more physical through contact. I felt weak last season, and that’s something I knew had to change.”

While Hyatt shoulders responsibility for his lack of impact, the instability within the Giants—especially at quarterback—hasn’t helped his development. With rookie standout Malik Nabers now the clear No. 1 option, the rest of the receiving corps, including Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton, must step up.

To climb that depth chart, Hyatt will need an impressive training camp and noticeable improvement once the regular season begins. Still, in an offense desperate for consistent weapons, Hyatt’s offseason transformation could give him the chance to rewrite his story—if it pays off on the field.
