Braves standout outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. is set to have his injured left knee reevaluated next week as he continues his recovery from ACL surgery performed last year.
Acuña tore his left ACL on May 26 and underwent surgery on June 6. According to Braves manager Brian Snitker on Thursday, he’ll be heading to Los Angeles for the follow-up exam.
While Acuña has been participating in live batting practice, he hasn’t yet been cleared for stop-and-go movements or cutting, and he hasn’t run out of the batter’s box during workouts, Snitker added.
“They just need to check him out and give the green light before he can move to that next stage,” Snitker said. “It’s always been part of the plan—there’s no rushing involved.”
The 27-year-old was limited to 49 games last season, hitting only .250 with four homers, following his 2023 MVP campaign in which he blasted 41 home runs, swiped 73 bases, and batted .337.
Snitker emphasized that once Acuña is cleared, his focus will shift to getting back into game shape—much like players who miss spring training.
Atlanta has felt his absence this season, starting slow with nine losses in their first 11 games and ranking near the bottom of the league in runs scored heading into Thursday’s action.
