The lone bright spot in the New York Giants’ 31st-ranked offense in 2024 was rookie receiver Malik Nabers, who burst onto the scene with 1,204 yards on 109 catches—both top-10 marks league-wide.
Meanwhile, 2023 third-round pick Jalin Hyatt struggled to find his footing in a crowded receiver room. After a promising rookie year, his production dropped significantly in Year 2, logging just 62 yards on eight receptions as his role shrank.
Determined to bounce back in Year 3, Hyatt spoke on the Giants Huddle podcast about how he’s reshaping himself—literally and mentally. One of the most dramatic changes? His body.
“I played at 170, 171 last year, I’m about 194, 195 now,” Hyatt said. “That’s what darkness does to you. It changes you.”
Hyatt said the focus this offseason has been on adding strength without sacrificing his signature speed. “Speed will stay there,” he explained, “but for me it’s just learning to play bigger, stronger, and handle contact better.”
He’s also aiming for a more versatile role. After lining up outside on 86% of his snaps last season, Hyatt has talked with head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen about moving around more in the offense—especially getting back into the slot, where he thrived at Tennessee.
Beyond the physical changes, Hyatt acknowledged that improvement also needs to come from within. “It’s about consistency, being disciplined, and making the plays that come to me,” he said. “Once you do that, more opportunities follow.”
With more than two months until the 2025 season kicks off, Hyatt is working to turn preparation into production—and prove he still belongs in the Giants’ long-term plans.
